Comprehensive Oral Assessments

At this visit we will gather your pertinent medical and dental history followed by a comprehensive oral evaluation. This assessment includes the charting of existing dental work as well as periodontal probing of the gums (pocket depths), recessions, abrasions, mobilities and bleeding points. An intra-oral cancer screening of all soft tissue along with manual palpation to check for any abnormalities.

SCALING

The removal of plaque (soft bacterial deposits) and calculus (hard bacterial deposits) from the tooth (including the root surfaces) by the use of hand and/or ultrasonic instruments.

POLISHING (REMOVAL OF SURFACE STAINS)

The use of a rubber cup and paste will gently buff the tooth surface to remove any “removable” or extrinsic stains.
